Yool Kim: Hello! (online exclusive)

Dec 15th – January 20th, 2022

Seoul-based artist Yool Kim navigates ideas of identity and subconscious mind through mixedmedia artwork. Her paintings focus on figures expressing a form of disorder. This is seen notthrough just facial expressions, but extends throughout the painting to express dissatisfactionand dizziness that come from the human experience. Kim’s work often highlights self expressionthat have not yet matured, an expression stunted in growth. Her desire is to organize theseemotions through her artwork. Kim was born in 1982 and graduated from Hongik University Graduate School of Industry in 2015 with a degree in Color Studies.

“I usually draw facial expressions in disorder. It's not just a facial expression. It's a facial expression that shows what we've experienced in our lives. I believes most people express dissatisfaction and dizziness that come from experience. My paintings show self-expressions that I haven't grown up yet, and my wishes are expressed through the emotions. There's so many subjects that have yet to be organized.
