Craigie Harper
Craigie Harper's paintings are set in the Scottish town Kilmarning, which lies north-east of nowhere in particular…
”These paintings are partly autobiographical, partly fictitious; the line between the two is blurred. Many of the narratives are based on real events from my life or the lives of the people closest to me, albeit exaggerated and set in a new context. I take inspiration from the landscape of Scotland: small towns and villages, the highlands and dreich, overcast skies. The overarching themes in my work revolve around Scottish identity. I am interested in parochial attitudes, collective folly and the absurdity of local ways of life.”
